Erin and Phil’s Port Huron Engagement Session!!!

Erin and Phil came all the way from Maryland for this engagement session!  Well, not exactly FOR the session, but I can tell myself that….:)      They’re both from Michigan originally, and are getting married here next summer at the beautiful Addison Oaks.

We hung out in Port Huron for these portraits.  I didn’t realize there was such a variety of cool places to photograph there…  We started out near the Blue Water Bridge, made our way to one of the coolest cafes ever, The Raven, and then downtown for some more fun shots!

You can check out the rest of the images from the shoot here.

I had an awesome time, and hope you guys did as well.  Can’t wait for you wedding!!

Mike and Lori’s Engagement Session

So, I had never met Mike and Lori until the morning of our session.  They both live in L.A., and their moms booked me for their wedding in September.  Mike called me a couple of weeks prior, and we scheduled the session on a weekend that they’d be back in town.

Problem was, they had only one day.  That’s normally not an issue, but the weatherman said that their day was going to be ugly, and not just an overcast kind of ugly. A rain, thunder, lightning,  high winds, flooding  and hail kind of ugly.  I scouted out a lot of indoor locations and brought a couple of umbrellas hoping that everything would be ok, and that they’d still want to go through with the session.

I didn’t have to worry.

It was POURING when they arrived, but not only were they ready to go, they had extra umbrellas, extra clothes, and no worries about getting a little wet!  We headed downtown to see what we could see when the skies got brighter-ish, and the clouds parted above us (relatively speaking).

It was a great day, and they’re great together!

In front of the CoPa

They’re huge sports fans, so we had to hit Comerica Park and Ford Field first thing.

After the stadiums, we took a trek to Belle Isle.  Aren’t they great together?

They were really excited that it stopped raining…..  :)

After Belle Isle, we headed to the riverfront, and had an unapproved ride on the carousel.  Security wasn’t too happy that we were there without permission…but didn’t kick us out either.

Thanks so much, Mike and Lori!  I had an awesome time, and can’t wait for your wedding!!  Check out the slideshow below for more of my favorites, and see all their pictures here.

Aimee and Mike’s Wedding!

0055-genungblog
So,  I hadn’t talked to my friend Aimee since High School (class of ’95, woot!) when she contacted me on my Facebook page about wedding photography.   She was living in Virginia, and planning her Michigan wedding via internet and telephone.

They got married at the beautiful Agape’ on the Bay, which was an AWESOME place.   It’s 3 miles down a dirt road in Ossineke, Michigan (I hadn’t heard of it either….it’s near Alpena).  Super cool place, and full of wildlife.  I saw deer, egrets, a hummingbird, a bald eagle, and about a zillion frogs.

The wedding was beautiful, Aimee and Mike were the coolest couple ever, and I love the photos.

Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Agape's ceremony site is sweet. It opens out onto the bay, and you're surrounded by woods and wildlife.

Aimee was *this* close to getting in the water for a photo-op. It would have made for great pics, but we didn't want to muddy up her dress right before the reception!

Marty and Michelle’s Wedding!!

So, Marty and Michelle got married a couple weeks ago, and it was awesome!

The day started out with rain.  This wasn’t a sprinkle or a shower, it was POURING when I got to her parent’s house.  I ran to the door, kinda worried that everyone might be bummed by the weather, and was greeted by tuxedo wearing dogs and laughter from the living room.  The rain didn’t bother anyone at all, and spirits were high at the Lemmer house.  :)

Michelle looked amazing!

Even the pooches were ready for the wedding.

I'm a sucker for a dog in a bow-tie.

So, before we left for the church, a neighbor called and said that a surefire way to stop the rain on your wedding day is to hang a rosary from a tree.  Who knew?  Michelle’s Dad was game, and went outside loaded for bear.

I'd never heard of this, but I guess it's a no fail way to stop the rain!

So, the rosary must have done it’s work during the ceremony, because when it was over the rain was gone, and the sun was doing its best to peek out!

Sprocket at the Dog Park!

We went to the dog park last week with our cool neighbors and their cool pooches!    Sprocket had a great time playing with the other dogs for about 10 minutes, then he tried to climb in stranger’s laps.
